In our Wheaton showroom we have a storm window we just replaced that was installed in 1960. We have a history of being known to go over and above the manufacture’s warranty.

Washingtonian Magazine created an article entitled “Old Reliables”. The article focused on companies in the Washington metro area that have surpassed all others over a 30-year period. Wheaton Door and Window was the only home improvement company selected in the state of Maryland and the District of Columbia!

Frequently, we hear complaints from consumers that have used other companies that installers left their home and their tools laying around for days or weeks before they return. At Wheaton Door and Window our installers are not allowed to walk off the job site if the job is not complete. On top of that, they will not receive their next job from us until they show us a completion certificate that we have obtained 100% customer satisfaction from you with the installation job.

The small business administration statistics is that 95% of all home improvement companies fail within 4 years. At Wheaton Door and Window, we have been in business for over 65 years. If we were an average home improvement company we should have changed our name 16 times over the course of that time frame. We only changed our name once at the beginning, from Wheaton Door Company to Wheaton Door & Window Company due to the increase in product line (adding windows).  Our customers who bought from Wheat Door Company are still being serviced. It’s how we have maintained an A rating with the BBB. We are not running from our warranties. We are a company that services its warranties and takes care of its customers.

Most product warranties have a disclaimer that reads, “If the products are not installed by a certified factory trained representative this warranty is void”. Ninety percent of all home improvement companies do not have factory-trained installers. At Wheaton door and window all of installers are certified for the product they install and are factory trained. This allows our customers to hold warranties that are valid for a lifetime.

One of the biggest errors home improvement companies make is they let their installers purchase their own material. This in turn leads to a worker looking for the cheapest sealants and caulk to maximize their job profit. A consumer can buy the best energy saving window in the world and it won't be effective if not sealed and installed properly. At Wheaton Door & Window, our installation teams only use the highest quality sealants and caulking. Again, we follow up with our warranties and our customers, it just wouldn't make any sense for us not to use anything but the best.

Most companies have one installation crew that installs doors, windows, siding, gutters, cabinets and so on. What happens in this type of scenario, is this crew starts to favor one product and installs an average or below average job on the other products. At Wheaton door and Window Company our installers are not only licensed, insured, bonded, factory trained and background checked, they are also certified and product specific. Our window installers only install windows, our door installers only install doors and so on. What we have learned is that when an installer does the same thing over and over again they get better at it. The average tenure for one of our installation teams is 20 years.
